NORFOLK, Va. (AP) ? Skylar Diggins was already having such a great day, her coach figured she might as well make it historic.

The Notre Dame point guard scored 22 of her 27 points by halftime Sunday and became the school's career scoring leader, leading the top-seeded Fighting Irish to a 93-63 victory against Kansas in the semifinals of the Norfolk Regional.

Coach Muffet McGraw had forgotten all about Diggins' pursuit of the school scoring mark until the game was well in hand. When she asked, she was told the senior was just two points away from passing assistant coach Beth Cunningham.

"I told her, 'You're coming out in 30 seconds. You might as well get one more,'" McGraw said she told Diggins.

Moments later, with 7:48 to play, the lefthander in her trademark white headband swished a 12-foot jumper.

"Coach told me to score two more. I didn't really know why, but I was like, 'OK,'" Diggins said.

It was that kind of the day for Diggins, who heard talk beforehand that the Norfolk Regional was full of great point guards, and quickly showed she might not have a peer, especially at this time of year with the stakes so high.

"We play in games that are so much like Sweet 16 or Elite Eight kind of caliber games in our conference," she said. "That helps all of us."

So does having a leader that makes it all look so easy. Diggins added nine assists and three steals, scored nine straight during a 16-2 first-half run that put the Irish (34-1) ahead to stay, and six more to cap a 10-2 run into halftime.

"She's what everyone says," Kansas point guard Angel Goodrich, who finished with seven points and 13 assists, said. "She's the whole package. She can create for herself and she can create for her teammates."

The victory was the 29th in a row for Notre Dame, and left the Irish one victory shy of a third consecutive trip to the Final Four. They have lost in the title game each of the last two years.

Carolyn Davis led the upstart Jayhawks (20-14) with 25 points on 11-for-17 shooting, but the second No. 12 seed ever to get this far in the women's tournament since the seeding format began in 1994 didn't stick around long.

Notre Dame led 40-27 at halftime and started the second half with a 22-9 run.

"We definitely let them play comfortable and confident," Jayhawks coach Bonnie Henrickson said. "I was disappointed our defensive effort wasn't better."

Goodrich's head-to-head duel with Diggins never materialized. When Goodrich, like Diggins a senior, finally scored with 5:48 left in the first half, Diggins already had 16 points and her team was about to make another run before halftime.

It came in the final 4:30 of the half, a 10-2 burst capped by two 3-pointers by Diggins.

"When she starts hitting the 3, you're in trouble," McGraw said.

Natalie Achonwa added 17 points and 10 rebounds for Notre Dame, Jewell Loyd scored 15 and Kayla McBride 13 as the Fighting Irish shot 54.4 percent from the field, making 37 of 69 attempts.

Monica Engelman added 10 points for Kansas, but on just 4 of 16 shooting.

The Irish trailed 15-11 when Loyd made a 3-pointer with 14:37 to go and then Diggins took over. She hit a 16-footer, a 17-footer, a 3-pointer and then had a steal and layup, making it 23-15. After Davis' stickback for the Jayhawks, Ariel Braker scored inside and Diggins did, too, posting up Goodrich.

The 16-2 run gave the Fighting Irish a 27-17 lead, and the spread stayed about the same until late in the half when Diggins hit a 3-pointer, then followed a turnover with another 3 from the right side.

Hamas Gaza ruler meets Egypt intelligence chief

CAIRO (AP) ? Egypt's state news agency says the Gaza Strip's Hamas ruler has met with Egypt's intelligence chief to discuss Palestinian reconciliation and the cease-fire between the militant group and Israel.

Ismail Haniyeh's met with Rafaat Shehata on Sunday, a day after arriving in Egypt. Egypt's Islamist President Mohammed Morsi mediated a cease-fire between Hamas and Israel last year.

Relations between Egypt and Hamas are high on the agenda. Hamas, a Palestinian offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood ? the group from which Morsi hails ? has come under attack by some in Egypt who accuse it of harboring militants that operate in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.

Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal is also in Egypt, where the group is expected to choose its next leader. Mashaal is a top candidate for the post.

Facebook's Android Homescreen Could Expose Apple's Inflexibility

Game Of Phones SigilsThe mainstream has had little reason to care that Android gives developers much more customization freedom than iOS. But if Facebook's fabled Android homescreen is a hit, the stubbornness of Apple's closed mobile platform could be framed as a drawback after years of its cohesive design and ease being seen as assets.

FCC confident in its mobile phone radiation limits, seeks second opinions

Cast your memory back to last summer. Sweep away memories of iPhone 5 leaks galore, and you might remember that the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) asked the FCC to reevaluate its radiation limits for mobile phones. Now a few seasons later, the FCC has finally wrapped up a report that responds to the GAO, and there are no changes to its RF radiation levels in sight because it feels comfortable with its current caps. "We continue to have confidence in the current exposure limits, and note that more recent international standards have a similar basis," reads the report. However, given that its guidelines were adopted in 1996, new research on radiation and the proliferation of mobile devices, the FCC would like some feedback regarding its restrictions. It's put out a call for comments from concerned parties and even federal health and safety bodies.

Though the freshly-released document didn't rock the proverbial boat, it made one change worth noting. The pinna (outer ear) is now classified an extremity, which means the FCC allows devices to hit the tissue with more radiation. Feel like poring through 201 pages of regulatory minutiae? klb,
Wondering if you had some appropriate apparel suggestions for attending RAC meetings as an independent sportsman?

I don't wear my UWC shirts to RAC meetings, if that's what you meant. Might as well dress the part you're playing though, so SFW it up buddy! Seems that face to face we all suddenly have the same interests at heart and are friends until Dear Leader speaks his mind to the local chapter leadership and steering committee. Its not hard to determine, by hearing someone who supports one group over the masses, who they associate with. That's a pretty safe assumption there. Sometimes, our very own DWR folks show their group preferences despite their uniform.

I could be wrong but the reference to Hitler was only to make a point that LEADERSHIP can sometimes bring along masses for the wrong reasons.

But you have a great Easter weekend, Cody.

Klb,
No not at all, that's my point. Sportsman should all go and speak up. You may think you know me or my motives. But really you have no idea. When I want something done then I go thru the process. Others should most certainly do the same.

Yeah still not sold on the whole Hitler reference. Got still say not the best analogy. IMHO

I'm sorry you didn't like the analogy, but most of the time a person has to go to extremes to make a point quickly and succinctly. Trying to be politically correct just muddies the waters.

Reb thanks for the reply.

I'll open the curtain a bit for you and 73.

Basically these big game rules are decided by about 12 people. Most all of them are reps from the hunting groups like SFW MDF UBA and so on. When the Division has a proposal to run through the RACs they'll pull together a meeting of these same guys and have them bless what they are going to propose. Most of the time the groups will want changes made before they offer support and will discuss them at this time. I declined this last invitation via e mail a week or so ago for the permit numbers.

Now 99% of these groups are making money by selling conservation permits and we wonder why the public has no voice?? We wonder why we have built a statewide hunting preserve for the rich and famous?? We wonder why these groups don't want us unwashed pukes to keep or expand ANY opportunity.

Any illusion of an honest public input process was blasted in the WB meeting for option 2 when Byron Bateman gave the DWR a check for $300K before the vote right in the middle of the meeting. Add to that Jake Albrecht stumbling through the proposal that DC had so eloquently composed for him and it don't take long to see the manure pile.

Carry on with the fantasy that your efforts can trump corrupt individuals, corrupt leaders, all the way to that pr!ck Herbert and a corrupt system..

So.....just to be clear....

You guys are recommending that we all sit back, do nothing and watch the ball roll as it is a complete waste of time??

I think your all dead wrong!

IF 300 of you naysayers showed up to every RAC Meeting screaming, kicking, and yelling **** would get done...

Lets look at option 2- I attended the Northern RAC and I would guess about sixty "citizens" were there if my memory serves me correctly, IMO the majority of them and groups in attendance that stood up wanted Option 2, not by much, but I would say the majority wanted "change" For sure there was no overwhelming support one way or the other....

I was at the wildlife board meeting as well......same thing, cept I would say it was about 50/50, same thing though no overwhelming support going one way or the other.....and now you all say they went against the majority...I call BS.

The problem is you and most of the public wont show up, most of the members of this forum do not give a damn, and like you think its a waste of time.....you guys dont like that big/powerful sfw shows up and puts its members at the meetings......I get it.....but until other groups step up and "the common" man gets involved....your stuck with what we have now, 15 people at a meeting, half being members of that damn SFW......

In the words of the former ProOutdoors.....Put up or Shut Up......(I think thats how it went) 8)

I honestly WANT to see groups like the UWC blow up the RAC's and Wildlife Board meetings with people......I want opposition, I truly believe without it, things get stuck in a rut!

Wiley- i respect your service and knowledge, but i still dont think its right for the average hunter to lay down and give up...

And yes, SFW was the only MAJOR group to support option 2...I re-read my post and my applogies, I should have clarified...

There were other groups that did support option 2...small groups I rarely here about..

Jelly Bean now available via 'Simple Upgrade Tool' for the Alltel Galaxy S II

Galaxy S II

Alltel hasn't forgotten the Samsung Galaxy S II, and Jelly Bean is available for download right now

Customers on Alltel using a Galaxy S II will want to check their messaging app this evening, as Jelly Ban has been made available. Users are receiving a text telling them the update is ready to download to their computer:

FREEALLTELMSG: Get the latest update for your Samsung Galaxy SII. Download OS Jelly Bean version 4.1.2 from your computer. Visit http://bit.ly/XHB4dp

Upon visiting the link, you're then warned that this is only able to be done via a computer (Windows only) using the Simple Upgrade Tool from Samsung. What you'll be downloading is the official SCH-R760 4.1.2 build, and the included package will walk you through getting it installed on your phone.

While we prefer OTA updates whenever possible, the jump from Gingerbread to Jelly Bean requires more than just an update to the system files. Manually flashing it from a computer is probably the best way to go here, though we wish it was a more generic process versus a Windows only executable file.

If you have no access to a compatible Windows computer (Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, or XP) you should visit the closest Alltel dealer and ask for assistance. For everyone else, get to downloading!

More: Alltel. Thanks, Terry!

Bill 933 ? From International Business Times | Practice CrossFit

Maybe Obama had a rally good reason for signing bill 933. A bill that will stop federal courts from removing dangerous food from our tables. The only reason I can think of, is population control.

The following is from: International Business Times

The ?Monsanto Protection Act? is the name opponents of the Farmer Assurance Provision have given to this terrifying piece of policy, and it?s a fitting moniker given its shocking content.

President Barack Obama signed a spending bill, HR 933, into law on Tuesday that includes language that has food and consumer advocates and organic farmers up in arms over their contention that the so-called ?Monsanto Protection Act? is a giveaway to corporations that was passed under the cover of darkness.

There?s a lot being said about it, but here are five terrifying facts about the Farmer Assurance Provision ? Section 735 of the spending bill ? to get you acquainted with the reasons behind the ongoing uproar:

1.) The ?Monsanto Protection Act? effectively bars federal courts from being able to halt the sale or planting of controversial genetically modified (aka GMO) or genetically engineered (GE) seeds, no matter what health issues may arise concerning GMOs in the future. The advent of genetically modified seeds ? which has been driven by the massive Monsanto Company ? and their exploding use in farms across America came on fast and has proved a huge boon for Monsanto?s profits.

But many anti-GMO folks argue there have not been enough studies into the potential health risks of this new class of crop. Well, now it appears that even if those studies are completed and they end up revealing severe adverse health effects related to the consumption of genetically modified foods, the courts will have no ability to stop the spread of the seeds and the crops they bear.

2.) The provision?s language was apparently written in collusion with Monsanto. Lawmakers and companies working together to craft legislation is by no means a rare occurrence in this day and age. But the fact that Sen. Roy Blunt, Republican of Missouri, actually worked with Monsanto on a provision that in effect allows them to keep selling seeds, which can then go on to be planted, even if it is found to be harmful to consumers, is stunning. It?s just another example of corporations bending Congress to their will, and it?s one that could have dire risks for public health in America.

3.) Many members of Congress were apparently unaware that the ?Monsanto Protection Act? even existed within the bill they were voting on. HR 933 was a spending bill aimed at averting a government shutdown and ensuring that the federal government would continue to be able to pay its bills. But the Center for Food Safety maintains that many Democrats in Congress were not even aware that the provision was in the legislation:

?In this hidden backroom deal, Sen. [Barbara] Mikulski turned her back on consumer, environmental and farmer protection in favor of corporate welfare for biotech companies such as Monsanto,? Andrew Kimbrell, executive director of the Center for Food Safety, said in a statement. ?This abuse of power is not the kind of leadership the public has come to expect from Sen. Mikulski or the Democrat Majority in the Senate.?

4.) The President did nothing to stop it, either. On Tuesday, Obama signed HR 933 while the rest of the nation was fixated on gay marriage, as the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument concerning California?s Proposition 8. But just because most of the nation and the media were paying attention to gay marriage doesn?t mean that others were not doing their best to express their opposition to the ?Monsanto Protection Act.? In fact, more than 250,000 voters signed a petition opposing the provision. And Food Democracy Now protesters even took their fight straight to Obama, protesting in front of the White House against Section 735 of the bill. He signed it anyway.

5.) It sets a terrible precedent. Though it will only remain in effect for six months until the government finds another way to fund its operations, the message it sends is that corporations can get around consumer safety protections if they get Congress on their side. Furthermore, it sets a precedent that suggests that court challenges are a privilege, not a right.

?I think any time you tweak with the ability of the public to seek redress from the courts, you create a huge risk,? Seattle attorney Bill Marler ? who has represented victims of foodborne illness in successful lawsuits against corporations ? told the New York Daily News.

District attorney, wife shot to death in Texas county where assistant DA was killed, police say

Kaufman County

Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland

By Frank Heinz, NBCDFW.com

Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia were found shot to death inside their Forney home Saturday, nearly two months to the day after his top assistant was gunned down on his way to work earlier this year.

Kaufman County Sheriff's Department investigators confirmed the deaths to NBC 5 Saturday evening, but had little else to say in the early stages of the investigation.

See original report at NBCDFW.com

One source close to the probe said the top prosecutor and his wife were found by a concerned relative or close friend who had gone to the house about 4 p.m. after being unable to reach them.

Other sources told NBC 5 that the McLelland's front door may have been kicked in and that gunshots had been fired, though police have not independently confirmed that information.

There was no immediate confirmed link between Saturday's murders and the Jan. 31 slaying of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse, but it would be hard to not speculate on possible connections.? With that in mind, officials contacted all Kaufman County officials to ensure their safety Saturday. One former Kaufman County prosecutor was "in hiding" Saturday evening and said others were as well.

While police officers are frequently the target of violence while trying to apprehend criminals, attacks on prosecutors are extremely rare though not unheard of.? McLelland said as much in January when speaking about his slain friend when he said Hasse was aware of the dangers associated with being a prosecutor.

At the time, he described Hasse as a really, really good man that was an excellent friend and a spectacular prosecutor who wouldn't be easily replaced. He also vowed to catch Hasse's killers saying, "I hope that the people that did this are watching. Because we're very confident that we're going to?find you, pull you out of whatever hole you're in, bring you back and let the people of Kaufman County prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law."

FBI agents and Texas Rangers, who were still investigating the unsolved slaying of Hasse, are now leading the investigation into Saturday's murders, according to a federal law enforcement source.

McLelland and his wife, Cynthia Woodward McLelland, have five children including two daughters and three sons.? One of the sons is a Dallas police officer.

Investigators are expected to hold a news conference Sunday morning. ?More information is expected to be released at that time.

NBC 5's Ray Villeda and Scott Gordon contributed to this report.

By WUWT regular ?Just The Facts?

During the first crowdsourcing thread for the under construction WUWT Paleoclimate Reference Page, we had a number solid recommendations and WUWT moderator D.B. Stealey dropped a virtual mountain of links into comments here and here. The result is that the original WUWT Paleoclimate Reference Page has more than doubled in size and continues to grow as more comments from the prior crowdsourcing thread are added. Given the large number of additions and the fact that we now have a number of near-duplicate graphs, it seemed prudent to continue this crowdsourcing exercise to gain further input on the validity and value of each and all of the graphs.

There?will likely be at least one more crowdsourcing thread for the?WUWT Paleoclimate Reference Page, in order to assess a number of the currently disputed, questionable and falsified graphs, including Briffa et al., 1998, Jones et al., 1998, Mann et al., 1998, Pollack et al., 1998, Jones et al., 1998, Mann et al., 1999, Mann et al., 2000, Briffa et al., 2001, Esper et al., 2002 and Jones and Mann 2004, AR4 section 6.6.1.1 2007 and Marcott et al. 2013. Note that two (1, 2) of the graphs currently on the Paleoclimate page have a Disputed label, as per this comment and Alley?s own graph, the x axis label should read Years Before Present (1950 AD) not (2000 AD)

However, disputes aside, a gigantic thank you to D.B. Stealey, and all of those who have contributed to the WUWT Paleoclimate Reference Page. The following are some of the new additions to the WUWT Paleoclimate Reference Page:
