Pets and More Pets ? Best Aquarium Freshwater Fish to Start With

Maintaining an aquarium can be a very rewarding and fun activity. One of the great things about the hobby is that with preparation and patience, anyone can have a beautiful fish tank.

Taking care of fish is just easy, but you need to give attention and time for it. Fish are demanding that made it uneasy for first timers. As beginner, you should consider what fish to take care of. You must know the countless varieties of aquarium freshwater fish and pick which is the best for you. There are particular fish that require special care because they are temperamental and it can lead you to frustration. In other hand, freshwater aquarium information is always substantial to be put into concern.

As newborn enthusiast, you need to find a beautiful, active and hardy fish. There are fishes which can live longer even with just minimal care and little maintenance from the owner. They will not easily die even if there will be a minor fluctuation of temperature or PH level in the water.

Guppies are one of the easiest fishes to breed. They are hardy, cheap and have numerous beautiful species. Guppies with long, flowing, multicoloured fins are specifically the male ones. When these male guppies swam into the upper and middle levels of the aquarium, generally, they are quite active. They will survive with very minimal effort.

Plecostomus ? Commonly just called the pleco, there are actually a number of pleco species that are available to the aquarium keeper. Most are very hardy fish and belong to the group of ?algae eaters?. They will indeed eat algae in your tank, but they do need to be fed over and above that. The pleco will occupy the lower level of your tank and with his less than beautiful looks (OK, they?re ugly), he will definitely add a bit of personality to your tank.

Gouramis ? Including the Dwarf, Blue, and Kissing Gourami. These fish add a nice element of size (they are not huge, but a blue could grow to 4+ inches) and color to any community tank. Most people that are interested in aquariums are familiar with the Kissing Gourami and a pair will make a great addition to most any tank.

Swordtails ? With their deep orange color and the male?s namesake sword-shaped tail, these fish mix in well with a community tank.

Cory Cats are short for Corydoras. These fish are fine as single, in group they are like patrols exploring and hunting in the bottom of the tank that watching them is really fun. It has also many varieties.

Danios have many varieties like zebra, leopard, and giant danios and are all popular. They are active and seem that they don?t tire out. They are hardy fish. Some people find them difficult to care because of their too much constant activity.

Goldfish ? Talk about endless variety! Goldfish have it and more. Colors, fins, size, eyes, scales?there are enough to write many books on them. As such, they are a popular choice for a species tank, which is an aquarium with only different types of goldfish. They are very tolerant of a wide range of temperatures but that doesn?t mean they will tolerate bad water. They do produce a lot of waste and may require a bit more water changing than some other fish, but they still make a great choice for someone who is just getting into the aquarium freshwater fish keeping.
