BERLIN (AP) ? A German magazine is reporting that 1997 Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich has admitted receiving blood-doping treatment from Spanish doctor Eufemiano Fuentes.
Ullrich was quoted Saturday as saying in an interview with the weekly Focus that almost everyone was using performance-enhancing substances and he wanted to ensure "equality of opportunities."
Asked if he only engaged in blood doping, Ullrich says "the doctor's diagnosis says that."
In February 2012, the Court of Arbitration for Sport banned Ullrich for two years for blood doping, finding that he was "fully engaged" in Fuentes' drug program. At the time, the retired racer said he had "contact" with Fuentes but didn't directly acknowledge doping.
He didn't contest the CAS ruling, saying he wanted to "put an end to the issue."
