Moses Lake is proud of its location in the heartland of the Northwest?s most diversified agricultural region. The Moses Lake Agricultural Appreciation Parade pays tribute to Moses Lake?s agricultural heritage?past, present and future! Those that participate light up their farm equipment or float, saddle up the horses, and bring everything down to Third Avenue. Along with the parade is a street party featuring many local organizations.
Winners of this year?s parade were Holiday Decorated and Lighted Float Award, Friehe Farms; 1st Place Non-Commercial Farm Equipment Entries, Friehe Farms; 2nd Place Non-Commercial Farm Equipment Entries, Kristin Kilmer; 1st Place Commercial Entries, Mission Ridge Ski and Snowboard Resort; 2nd Place Commercial Entries, Dollar Up; 1st Place Specialty Entries, Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce; 2nd Place Specialty Entries, Grant County Fire District 5; 1st Place Youth Entries, Moses Lake FFA; 2nd Place Youth Entries, Moses Lake Youth Hockey; 1st Place Equestrian Individual Entries, Colorama Rodeo and Ridge Riders; 1st Place Equestrian Group Entries, J&K Recycling; 1st Place Clean up Crew, J&K Recycling.
The event featured entertainment in Sinkiuse Square provided by Zumba Fitness, South Campus Athletics ? Ripped Fitness, Rock?n B Cloggers, and a marshmallow pit by OIC of Washington, Winter Wonderland pictures by Jill LeGault of Images Photography, Toys for Tots Drive by the US Marine Corps and KWIQ, Frontier Middle School Fundraiser and the Salvation Army Bell Ringer, LakeTown Landing merchants stayed open late for holiday shoppers, and of course the main event was the lighted parade.
The lighted agricultural parade featured equestrian riders, lighted agricultural equipment (tractors and combines) as well as fire trucks, and local dignitaries, all traveling down Third Avenue for onlookers to see. The cold weather doesn?t keep area resident?s away, the crowds lined the streets for the hour-long parade, children gathered candy, saw Santa santas on the parade entries.
Marianne Kirwan, Executive Director for the Moses Lake Business Association, says ?We start planning for this event back in September. It?s a holiday tradition for Moses Lake and LakeTown Landing. The merchants look forward to the crowds and we?re able to put on an event where many groups, organizations and individuals can benefit. What started as an appreciation to our agriculture and cultural roots has turned into more and more holiday fun and an event for the whole family.?

The Moses Lake Business Association (MLBA) is a non-profit organization formed in 1993 by interested Moses Lake citizens. The purpose of the organization is to stimulate economic development in the Moses Lake business district called LakeTown Landing and to promote the area as an exciting place to live, shop, work and play. The MLBA also seeks to maintain a healthy business community and a high quality of life. MLBA is a member of the Washington State Downtown Revitalization Program. It is currently seeking to obtain Main Street Program status, which will benefit the organization by qualifying for state and national funding for programs and projects. The four components of this program are design, economic restructuring, promotion and organization.
