Apple in Talks to Launch Internet Radio Service

Apple is preparing to strengthen their grip on the music industry, Bloomberg reports. The company is in talks with major labels over licensing so that they can launch a Pandora-like Internet radio station as soon as early 2013. According to Bloomberg, execs from Universal, Sony, and Warner Bros. recently met at Apple headquarters to discuss how to share ad revenue generated by the service.
Apple?s service will look to compete with Pandora, the biggest Internet radio station in existence, by achieving looser licensing deals with labels so that listeners have fewer limitations on what they can hear. This is bad news for Pandora, whose stock has been on the decline.

Unlike Pandora, Apple?s proposed service won?t rely on web-browser delivery. Naturally, it?ll be focused on an app for the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. In exchange for greater flexibility, Apple may offer labels the chance to insert their own advertisements for artists in the app?
