The Prayer of St Francis for You and Those You Love and the Stranger

Sometimes we need the Prayer of St. Francis poured out

like a healing balm on our own selves.

The little self that looks for enemies to make war on before the other can make war on us.

The little self that injures others and itself with defensive machinations that don?t defend anything or anyone.

The little self that doubts and despairs, fearing only darkness and sadness lay ahead.

The little self for who, in its desperation to fix a relationship, can only seem to sabotage it.

The little self that needs the great, big Soul consoling, understanding, loving, giving, pardoning, and dying for the sake of one so broken and hurting she can only spiral down deep, deep, deep on a journey no one else wants to follow.

?

What?s this got to do with relationships?

EVERYTHING!

We cannot give if our well of love is dry ? and nothing makes a well dry as bone dust like self-loathing, self-hate, self-depreciation.

And if the self has sent love packing, then the self needs to take on the cloak of self-discipline and gently, steadily love her or him anyway, anyhow, any way she or he can.

You can read the prayer, as we?re often encouraged to, from the standpoint of everything you need to be and give to make a difference in the lives of those you love.

But do not miss the opportunity to read the prayer as loving words between your self and your Soul, applying healing where it is most needed before you can share it fully and with genuineness with those you love and with the stranger.

The Prayer of St. Francis Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.

They say peace begins within?so does love and positive regard for all?

Let you hear the prayer offered to you, let it provide healing?

Now you are ready to pour it out through your life to others.
