03/22/2013 - 4th Annual U.S. - Canada Policy Conference: "Planning for 2050: North American Policy for the Future of the Arctic"

The University of Michigan Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, in partnership with the University of Toronto School of Public Policy and Governance (SPPG), is happy to announce the fourth annual U.S.-Canada Conference. This year's conference will take on the challenges of the Arctic in a policy-driven case competition and simulated negotiation. Twenty University of Michigan students will collaborate with students from the University of Toronto's School of Public Policy and Governance to develop innovative policy recommendations to address natural resource extraction, international trade, the environment, and national security.

The keynote speaker will be Henry Pollack, emeritus professor of geophysics at the University of Michigan and a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which shared in the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Pollack is the author of A World Without Ice.

Co-organizers: Domestic Policy Corps and International Policy Students Association.
Sponsors: Science, Technology, and Public Policy Program, International Policy Center, Center for Local, State, and Urban Policy, and Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.

Applications were due Sunday, February 10.
